WHat happens on a Focus Travel celebrity theme cruise?
When we organise our theme cruises our intent is to allow our clients to get up close and personal with our celebrity guests, not just listen to a 40 minute lecture or talk. But to truly interact with them, learn from their knowledge and skills and perhaps even get to know them a little. We only work with celebrities that are experts in their field as well as celebrities.
Take the example of our Antiques Quest cruise for example. For the third year our returning guest is Antiques guru Tim WOnnacott. MOst will know Tim from his time on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Roadshow but in fact Tim was actually the Chairman of Sotheby's auction house CHECK THIS and has a wealth of experience of the real world of antiques.
TIm not only gives guests a couple of talks about his career, but accompanies all the antiques quest excursions. During excursions a quick nod or wink from Tim will give you guidance and knowledge on your purchase - paying too much, cut it down. It's also fair to say that Tim very much joins in the purchasing process himself and tries to find some interesting items to discuss with the group.
Tim will then host the valuation sessions and assess the items that have been purchased by our guests. It is an informal fun and lively process - with some lively discourse and of course we often find some real gems.
At the end of the cruise Tim then puts his professional head on and becomes the master Auctioneer for our grand charity auction at the end of the cruise - also including becoming involved with auction nearing the ships map also.
So we very much like our guests to 'touch and feel' our celebrities and interact with them - as well of course as getting signatures & photos of course.
This is the template that we use throughout our cruises, whether psychic, interior design, football or in fact any theme.
We love to think that our guests are getting 50% theme and 50% holiday and we aim to allow guest time to themselves as well as with the group. We also do not frog march people to dinner or make them attend events or excursions, it is entirely up to you if you wish to attend or indeed eat with the group.
Our events are friendly & fun yet professionally run - with a great eye for detail.
Bah Humbug !!
Holidaying at Christmas can be a nightmare or a blessing - a little bit of planning goes a long way to ensure you have an incredible time away.
So here are the 10 main reasons to take a Christmas and New Year Holiday (and 5 things to look out for)
5 Things to look out for:
Families & Friends - who would have them?
Well, in fact most people do have a family or friends groups that they either enjoy being with, suffer being with or have to be with at special occasions.
I hope I’m not sounding too negative here but often these events where you are forced together can be a little oppressive if you don’t have your own space to breathe.
One of the newest ways that these groups are coming together is on a cruise ship - which are perfectly suited to groups of all shapes and sizes. Best of all they are effectively cities at sea - so you can gets together with your group when you need to or find your own space onboard your incredible floating resort when you need a break.
Cruise ships these days are not just for the 'newly wed and the nearly dead' - modern ships have dodgem cars, water flumes, rock climbing walls, circus dining shows and even ice skating rings.
For the culinary inclined there are restaurants from Jamie Oliver and Nobu to MArco Pierre White and jacques Pepin. Most larger cruise ships have around 10 - 12 extra theme restaurants on top of the regular main dining room and buffet.
Added to the the onboard facilities you can also organise exclusive land based excursions for your group to cities, tourist areas and even arrange VIP access to certain attractions.
Let 's talk about the cruise shaped elephants in the rooms and the usual reasons people cite as not to cruise.
My family will be miles apart on the ship. Again if booked early enough we can arrange interconnecting or adjacent cabins for most guests - (or we can place you miles apart if you'd prefer). The key here is planning ahead - that will provide you with choice.
So if you are looking for the perfect 'home away from home', where you don't have to pack your luggage every day, where you can visit a new city every day then look no further than a cruise.

Why would I want to go on a networking cruise?
Here’s the answer.
As a business ourselves we attend lots of networking events, we get to meet lots of exciting and interesting people. Meeting other entrepreneurs always fires up our passion for business when we see others doing the same regardless of what business they are in.
Networking is fun but quite often you leave wishing you could have spoken to some people for longer (and some less!) - or you wish you could have chatted with that certain individual that you just couldn't get to.
In our day to day business at Focus Travel we organise themed holidays for media players such as the Radio Times & Spirit & Destiny magazine as well as corporate incentive breaks and business travel for groups, associations and clubs.
So, why not organise a networking cruise? - a chance for like minded individuals to meet, network with each other, learn from networking experts and perhaps carry those conversations over into the 14 bars and restaurants onboard a luxury cruise ship.
It seems like the most sensible thing in the world to do - who wouldn’t want to join us, especially as its a couple of nights in early December, when most businesses (except those selling Christmas trees) are starting to slow down, to review the Year and think about the year to come.
And so here we are with lost of businesses that have joined us in our ambition to host a truly groundbreakig cruise experience. We have found thus far that our networkers come from multi nationals, large local businesses and small to medium businesses. To us that’s the perfect mix - to have a Bob the Plumber sitting down with Sarah the CEO - to have Christine the Accounts Director meeting with Callum the Web Designer was exactly what we set out to do.
Add to this mix the experiences and insight of Lee McQueen - winner of the Apprentice, renowned business coach Ian Dickson teaching 'how not to network' and Stefan Thomas - author of Business Networking for Dummies and you have the recipe for a truly incredible experience.
But we didn’t stop there - we brought along Steve Thomson renowned body language expert, Naomi Harris - LinkedIn profile professional and Thingy who created her own marketing business just by networking.
Networking sessions comprise of one minute speed networking, 5 minute ‘lucky dip’ networking and 15 minute pre arranged networking.
Add into this that you’ll have a cabin on P&O Ventura, as much food as you can eat and all the entertainment on a luxury cruise ship and it all adds up to one incredible experience.
So - why not join us from the 3rd -5th December onboard P&O Ventura and have some great fun, great networking and an incredible experience on the UK’s first networking cruise.
The Focus Travel team were recently lucky to be invited to visit Holland America's new ship Konigsdam in her European home port of Amsterdam.
Konigsdam is the first of a new Pinnacle class ship, the largest in the HA fleet taking 2650 passengers. You certainly wouldn't know that many guests were onboard though as clever use of specific spaces means there are lots of discrete areas for guests.
Unlike the more 'jazz hands' approach of other US brands HA provide a calm, serence feel and a relaxed and grown approach to cruising - but with the opportunity to let your hair down if need be.
One of the foremost things about HA cruises is their appreciation that guests often want enrichment or learning opportunities on holiday. You may turn your brain off from day to day stresses and pressures but exercising your loves and hobbies.
For the food lover especially the The Culinary Arts Centre is an opportunity to flex your culinary skills aided by invited local chefs at destination ports. Utilising fresh, local, organic produce allows you to really get to grips with native cuisine.
We dined in Sel de Mer a truly outstanding seafood restaurant, where we hijacked the concept somewhat by having one of the tastiest steaks we'd ever had. Truly outstanding food in a convivial atmosphere.
This was followed by a visit to the all new theatre design with 270 degree led backdrop. It's great to see new technology and layouts being used in this way and a refreshing change for the theatre 'lite' layout of most other cruise ships. Shows promise to be more contemporary featuring Bowie, Elton john right through to current music - reflecting Holland America's ambition to reach out to a new more metropolitan clientele.
The external pool area has the now ubiquitous sliding roof but is designed much more as a theatre with a pool in it - this reflects the fact that this area at night becomes a hotbed of activity, films and shows with the BB Kings players a special treat.
Cabins are contemporary and well mannered with upper suites having coffee machines in room and large screen TV's in all cabins.
Konigsdam reflects Holland America's clear aim to become a player in the contemporary modern arena - appealing to the professional, the academic and those who wish to exercise their mind and body whilst enjoying superb food and drink and a great base for visiting unique itineraries - a welcome, surprising and quietly innovative addition to the cruise market.
To book Konigsdam why not call one of our cruise curators on 0333 358 3103
So what is it about a River Cruise that makes your holiday so very different and relaxing? Just read Alison Graham’s (the RadioTimes TV Editor’s) article in the RadioTimes magazine (25/6 – 1/7 2016 edition) and you will see that she too is now a converted cruiser. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-06-22/cruising-is-perfect-if-you-dont-like-going-on-holiday
Alison joined the FocusTravel team on its first RadioTimes Celebrity RiverCruise in April 2016 along with Ground Force’s Charlie Dimmock, Bargain Hunt’s Tim Wonnacott and Radio Journalist and Broadcaster, John Sargeant and was soon having the time of her life. The whole process is easy from start to finish. You are collected by coach at a collection point near to your home and driven down to Dover where you cross the channel, continuing your journey through some delightful northern European countryside. On arrival in Koblenz your luggage is taken on board (no struggling with your cases as you often have to do in airports), instead the next time you see your case is inside your cabin. A few minutes later you are unpacked, showered and refreshed and ready for your amazingly relaxing holiday. For the next 7 nights, your home is a long yet not very high ship. Usually only 3 or 4 decks, the top deck being the one you can sit on for many an hour watching the world slowly drift by as you take in some of the most beautiful towns and villages along the river.
River Cruise ships have a more intimate feel than you find on many ocean liners; instead you have elegant yet simple surroundings. It’s was during our meandering up the river and in these elegant lounges that our celebrities gave talks about their specialist subjects, mingled with our guests and answered many an inquisitive question. It’s such a wonderful environment, one where you can meet our celebrities personally and talk about their lives and hear some fantastic stories and anecdotes usually saved for more formal occasions.
During our River Cruise you want for nothing, everything is taken care of. You don’t have to do or think about anything apart from what to wear, can you really eat any more delicious food and do you want to get off at the next port of call? Or just relax a little more? One thing you don’t have to worry about is encountering any “force majeure” in terms of weather. Always a concern when you join an ocean cruise but not when you are river cruising; you are pretty much guaranteed a smooth ride with no pill popping needed.
If you have cruised before and would like to experience a holiday with a “twist of the interesting” or if you have never cruised before we would be delighted if you would join us for our next Radio Times Celebrity River Cruise departing Koblenz to Basle on 7th – 15th May 2017. You will have the opportunity to make a Black Forest Gateau with This Morning’s chef, Lesley Waters, explore an antiques market with Bargain Hunt’s expert, David Harper and listen to the tales of Political Journalist and former MP Martin Bell all aboard the 4* MS Serenity. Here at Focus Travel we are often organising conferences and meetings at sea for Corporate groups, Sales teams and National organisations. Up to now we've organised these on large cruise ships.
In recent times we've been asked to cater for smaller groups of 30-60 and we've put together a portfolio of products that will cater for these group sizes.
Meetings at sea are a great way to get your team away from the constance barrage of information, questions and queries that they have to deal with everyday - this allows them to focus totally on the task at hand, be it corporate restructuring, business planning or hosting important clients.
We work with several partners and at different budgets.
For those of you with seafaring ambitions - why not try a traditional Motor Sailor - which always sails under power with sails being used on occasion when conditions allow. This ship has 25 outside guest cabins that can be single or twin occupancy and all cabins are air conditioned.
For something a little more swish why not try....this sleek high tech flagship.
Designed with the corporate market specifically in mind this luxury yacht accommodates up to 72 guests in 36 cabins. Sailing the Greek Islands this incredible ship can access tiny ports and inlets not available to larger vessels.
And finally the newest addition to the ultra luxury yacht market - Crystal Esprit - the latest addition to the boutique luxury yacht market. Catering for 62 discerning guests who seek access to some of the World's most exciting maritime destinations. Quite possibly the very best luxury yacht at sea - it even has it's own submarine !!
Available for full charter by select Corporate partners.
For information or a discussion of your requirements for these products please call us on 0333 358 3103 or email email@example.com
We match cabin share clients with roommates of the same gender and similar age (whenever possible) at no additional charge. Booking early will help ensure that you are matched with someone close to your age but this can not be guaranteed. This complimentary matching service saves our guests money by allowing them to take advantage of the shared (double) occupancy cabin rate. This service is available in most standard cabin categories but not available for suites. If a single prefers to room alone, please purchase the single cabin fare.
Please note that Focus Travel accepts no responsibility for roommate matching incompatibility such as sleep patterns, snoring, noise, or age differences. If you are concerned that any of these disparities may be an issue affecting the enjoyment of your holiday, we recommend you purchase a single cabin or better yet - bring a friend along who may also enjoy the cruise!
Focus Travel does not conduct any type of background checks on it clients in general, and specifically does not conduct background checks on matching a client with another in a roommate situation.
Focus Travel makes no representations or warranties regarding compatibility between roommates. Our roommate matching is strictly for non-smokers - this is for the comfort of all our roommate matches, and it relies on the honour system at booking and common courtesy while onboard. Even if you don’t consider yourself a regular smoker, if you do choose to smoke during the cruise, then you will not have the option of using our roommate matching on any future cruises.
Under no circumstances will Focus Travel be liable for any damages whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, general, special, compensatory, consequential, and/or incidental arising out of or relating to the conduct of any client or guest action or interaction between clients or guests, including without limitation bodily injury, emotional distress, harassment, and defamation.
Anne Thomas - Past Life Regression
What is past life regression? A past-life regression recalls scenes, feelings and memories from another lifetime that one has lived as though it were happening now. Discovering your past lives is a fascinating way to understand who you are as an immortal soul living a human life. It enables you to heal the present through the past and can bring great inner peace.
How can I remember a past life? Some people have spontaneous flashbacks during the waking state. This may be triggered by an event, such as visiting a place where one has lived in a past life. Past life memories may also appear in dreams or during meditation. The most effective and therapeutic way to recall a past life is to have a session with a trained and certified past-life regression therapist. In a deeply relaxed state, one travels back through time with my help as the facilitator to discover the roots of skills, relationships, problems, attitudes or other patterns that influence the present life. Some people have very vivid and emotional recall while others may have an intuitive knowing without a lot of emotion and imagery. I don’t use my psychic abilities to tell you about your past lives. You discover them yourself as I help you move backward and forward in the story of your past life by asking you questions. This is more therapeutic, effective, and empowering than having someone “read” your past lives. You are in control of the session.
What is past life regression therapy? Past life regression therapy is a holistic therapy that works with the body, mind, emotions and spirit. It is based on the principles of cause and effect (karma) and the theory that your reactions and the way you respond to problems are based in the past. As a skilled therapist, I can guide you back to a time before birth in this lifetime to discover the root causes of problems you may be experiencing in the present and heal them. This may include relationship issues, chronic illnesses, phobias, addictions, sexual dysfunction, inexplicable attraction or aversion to someone, recurring nightmares, fear of death, etc. Conventional psychotherapy focuses on the present life and may not be able to get to the source of a problem. Past life regression therapy can speed up the healing process as one understands and feels on a much deeper level the source of one’s problems. This technique is also valuable and enjoyable for self-discovery if you are feeling problem free.
What are some of the benefits of past life regression therapy? Past life regression therapy can transform your life! It will help you to develop your full potential, unlock hidden talents, and create more compassion and love for yourself and others. It can reveal your life purpose and reason for incarnating, and help you to overcome the fear of death. After a past life regression session, many clients report feeling a greater sense of inner peace, love and self-acceptance when they understand that they have chosen their life circumstances and the lessons that they need to learn. Past life regression therapy supersedes other therapies in its more profound perspective on the meaning of life. It transcends religious dogma and is beneficial regardless of your religion or spiritual beliefs. You do not have to believe in reincarnation to receive healing from this amazing technique
What is a session like? Past life regression sessions are about two hours long. I first interview you and ask about your present life. Together we look for recurring patterns that may create problems in your life and that will prompt your subconscious mind to lead you to the past life source of these issues. Then you create a focus or intention for the session. This is followed by guided meditation and deep relaxation which enables you to access important subconscious memories from this lifetime or another. The subconscious, in its infinite wisdom, will selectively reveal what is appropriate and healing for your current life situation. Some people see glimpses of several past lives; others may delve into one specific past life in more detail; another may discover important repressed memories from the current lifetime. Oftentimes people feel they are “making up” the past life memories. As you become more comfortable with the process, you will discover that this information is valuable and authentic and contributes to your healing and wellbeing.
What if I uncover a really scary past life and I cannot handle it? I create a safe and supportive environment for you. You will only experience traumatic memories if you are ready to let go of them. You’re in charge! Releasing emotional and/or physical trauma stored in the body and mind is very healing. Most people feel relieved, refreshed, and more peaceful after discovering hidden past-life memories that may have caused unnecessary anxieties and phobias in the present life
What if I experience my death in a past life? Is it safe to do this? The re-enactment of the death moment is where the real healing happens. Facing a death experience—and the peace that accompanies it—has great therapeutic value. It is enlightening and comforting to feel the release of the soul from the body and experience the peacefulness of the between life state. You no longer need to fear death when you realize that your soul is immortal and that you will live again and be re-united with loved ones. Clients who have experienced a past-life death exude a special radiance and inner peace after a session.
What if I cannot relax and “see” or recall my past lives? Most people are able to experience an alpha brain wave state of wakeful relaxation that is necessary to recall past lives. Many clients succeed in the first session; others may need more than one session to fully relax and experience past-life recall. Some relax more deeply than others and have a more vivid and detailed recall. Others may greatly benefit just from the relaxation process at first as they gain trust in themselves and their ability to recall past lives. Your body, mind, and spirit will guide you to proceed at your own pace. I’m present to support and assist you but you are in charge of your healing journey.
